How do I Hide "Always on Layout" Fields from a Customer in an Experience Cloud Site

Building a clean and helpful Experience Cloud site can be tricky. Sometimes, there are fields you don’t want your customers to see on their record pages — but Salesforce won’t let you remove them.

Good news: there’s a simple way to hide them!

What Are “Always on Layout” Fields?

Salesforce sometimes locks certain fields onto a page. These are fields like:

  • Status
  • Case Origin
  • Contact Name
  • Priority

You’ll know a field is “always on” because it has a little blue dot next to it on the page layout editor. These fields can’t just be deleted — even if you don’t want customers to see them.

How to Hide These Fields from Customers

Here’s the easy step-by-step way:

1. Create a Hidden Section

Add a new section to your page layout. Call it something like “Hide.”

2. Move the Fields into This Section

Drag all the “always on layout” fields you want to hide into that hidden section.

3. Save the Layout

Make sure the layout is connected to your customer users’ profile.

4. Edit the Page’s CSS

Go to your Experience Builder:

  • Open the page.
  • Right-click the hidden section and choose Inspect.
  • Find the class name for that section.
  • Copy it.

5. Paste the Class Name into the Page’s CSS

  • Go to the Theme settings.
  • Click Edit CSS.
  • Paste the class name you copied.
  • Replace spaces with periods (.).
  • Add { display: none; } inside curly braces {}.
  • Save your changes.

Once you do this, your hidden fields will disappear for customers.
