2 Easy ways to save time in Salesforce Flow Builder utilizing AI

Salesforce admins spend a significant amount of time building and managing flows. With the latest AI-powered enhancements in Salesforce Flow Builder, you can now automate and simplify your work more than ever before. Here are two straightforward ways that you can leverage generative AI to save time while working with flows.

Prerequisites

Before getting started, ensure the following are set up in your Salesforce org:

  • Generative AI is enabled in Setup.
  • Data Cloud (Data360) is provisioned and enabled.

1. Build a Flow from a Text Prompt

With generative AI enabled, you can quickly create flows just by describing what you want. Here’s how to use this feature:

  1. Start a New Flow: In Flow Builder, click New to begin.
  2. Let Einstein Help: You’ll see an option labeled “Let Einstein help you build.” Click Get Started.
  3. Enter a Prompt: You’ll be presented with sample instructions or you can provide your own. For example, “Create a flow that starts when an account is updated and copies the account’s phone number to related contacts.”
  4. Generate the Flow: Click Draft That. The system will build the flow based on your description.

Important:

  • Always review and debug generated flows before deploying. AI-generated flows are most reliable with simple, clear prompts. More complex instructions may require manual refinement.

This approach helps you lay the foundation for your automation. You can then modify the auto-generated flow to suit any additional business requirements.

2. Summarize Existing Flows Using AI

AI can also save you time by providing concise summaries of existing flows—helpful when dealing with complex orgs or unfamiliar managed package flows.

Here’s how you can utilize this feature:

  1. Open the Flow: Navigate to any existing flow, including those from managed packages.
  2. Einstein Summarize: In the Einstein panel, click Summarize flow.
  3. Review the Summary: AI will quickly analyze the flow and provide an easy-to-understand summary of what the flow does.
  4. Adjust the Summary Length: You can modify how detailed the summary is, and even add it directly to the flow’s description for future reference.

This makes it much easier to assess whether a flow meets your needs or to understand automations that you didn’t build yourself.

Leveraging these AI-powered tools in Salesforce Flow Builder drastically reduces the time required to build and document automations, making your daily administrative tasks more efficient.

Our clients say

From my initial call with Spencer through project implementation with John and Evan, my experience with the SOLVD team was excellent. They were quick to understand our business needs, clear when explaining the reasoning behind proposed solutions, transparent when reporting on progress and timeline, and all around enjoyable to work with. Would highly recommend and looking forward to continue working with them in the future!

Veronica Wong Director of Operations at Pathstream

SOLVD was very straight forward with everything needed to complete the project. No surprises, no issues, and cost was aligned with the estimate. They made implementation easy and quick.

As a rule, I'm pretty stingy with my recommendations. So it's a pleasure for me to recommend Solvd as a top-flight Salesforce consultancy. Solvd recently led our company's conversion to the Lightning interface and did it on time, on budget and made it easy for me and my team. I know I'll use their services again, and am confident they can do the same for you.
