How to Renew Multiple Contracts from an Account in CPQ?

Renewing contracts one by one can take a lot of time. But if your contracts end on the same date, you can renew them together in CPQ. This saves effort and makes the process smoother.

Parker Gunnell, a consultant at SOLVD, explains how to do this in a few easy steps.

"CPQ lets you renew contracts together so you don’t have to do them one by one. Just pick the contracts and merge them into one renewal." – Parker Gunnell, SOLVD Consultant

Step 1: Check Your Contracts

Let’s say you have two contracts:

  • One is for Product A and lasts 12 months
  • The other is for Product B and lasts 10 months

If both contracts end at the same time, you can combine them into one renewal.

Step 2: Start the Renewal

  1. Go to Contracts in CPQ.
  2. Click Renew Contracts and choose the ones you want to renew.
  3. Pick the main contract (Master Contract) for the renewal.

For example, Parker picks the 12-month contract as the main one.

Step 3: Fix Any Issues

If one contract was already set to renew, CPQ will warn you that it’s linked to another renewal.

To fix this:

  1. Uncheck the boxes for Renewal Quoted and Renewal Forecast.
  2. Remove the link to the old renewal.
  3. Do the same for the second contract.

Step 4: Complete the Renewal

Once you remove the old renewal links:

  1. Go back to Contracts and click Renew Contracts again.
  2. Pick the 12-month contract as the main one.
  3. Click Renew, and CPQ will create a single renewal opportunity.

Now, the renewal includes both Product A and Product B in one contract.

"This process keeps things simple and prevents mistakes from multiple renewals." – Parker Gunnell, SOLVD Consultant
