How do I setup a Product Configuration Rule
In Salesforce Revenue Cloud Advanced, product configuration rules can really boost your coding process.
In this guide, Parker Gunnell, a SOLVD Consultant, will walk you through the steps to create these rules and set up your rule library. You’ll also learn how to define complex conditions and actions.
Here's how to set up a product configuration rule:
Create a Rule Library
Your configuration rules need a place to live and run, so start by creating a rule library.
Go to the app launcher and search for "rules library." Click "new" and name your rule library.
“In this case, we've created a product configuration rule,” says Parker Gunnell, SOLVD Consultant.
Be sure to include the context definition of your first default version. You may need to check your pricing procedure to see what your current default version is.
Lastly, set up a configurator usage type. This is important and required for the next steps.
Activate Your Rule Library Version
Your rule library needs to have an active version.
Once you've created the library, go into it and you'll see "related rule library versions." You should see one version with your context definition.
Click into the library version and activate it.
“This is crucial in the next steps to help prevent errors when creating a product configuration,” Parker Gunnell, SOLVD Consultant explains.
Enable Product Configuration Rules in Revenue Cloud
Ensure that Revenue Cloud can handle product configuration rules.
Go to revenue settings in setup and scroll to "set up configuration rules." Enable this setting.
“This will allow you to generate a product configuration rule and allow them to be handled within revenue cloud,” says Parker Gunnell, SOLVD Consultant.
