How do I configure an evergreen product in Revenue Cloud

How do I configure an evergreen product in Revenue Cloud?
Evergreen products are subscriptions that don’t expire. They keep renewing until someone cancels them. Businesses use these for monthly or yearly services like software, memberships, or maintenance plans.
Setting up an evergreen product in Revenue Cloud takes a few steps, but once it’s done, it runs automatically. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Create a Product Selling Model
- JBefore making the product, you need to set up a Selling Model in Revenue Cloud. This model tells the system how the subscription should renew.
✔ Go to the App Finder and search for Product Selling Models
✔ Click New, then choose Evergreen as the Selling Model Type
✔ Select a pricing term (monthly, yearly, or another schedule)
"Make sure you create the Selling Model first before setting up the product. Doing it in the right order prevents mistakes." - Jared Christensen, SOLVD Consultant
Step 2: Create the Product
Now, you can set up the product itself.
🔹 Give it a name and product code
🔹 Mark it as active so it’s ready to sell
🔹 Allow it to be configured during the sale
🔹 Add it to a category (for example, “Services”)
Then, connect it to the Product Selling Model you created earlier.
"If your business offers both monthly and yearly plans, create two selling models—one for each." - Jared Christensen, SOLVD Consultant
Step 3: Set Up Pricing
Next, you need to add pricing to the product.
✔ Go to Price Books
✔ Add a price for each Selling Model (for example, $20 per month or $200 per year)
✔ Make sure the right price is linked to the correct Selling Model
This step is important because if the price isn’t linked correctly, the product won’t appear in quotes.
Step 4: Test and Activate the Product
Once everything is set up, you can refresh pricing and test it.
🔹 Create a quote and add the evergreen product
🔹 The product should show a start date but no end date
🔹 Activate the order, and it will auto-renew every month or year
"Evergreen subscriptions will keep running until the customer cancels them." - Jared Christensen, SOLVD Consultant
How to Cancel Evergreen Products
Evergreen products can’t be canceled at any time. They must be canceled on the renewal date (also called the anniversary date).
✔ If a subscription renews on the 22nd of each month, you must cancel it on the 22nd
✔ You cannot cancel it in the middle of the cycle

Setting up an evergreen product in Revenue Cloud makes it easy to sell subscriptions that renew automatically. As long as you follow the steps in order, your product will work smoothly.
